So your skins been fine while doing the laser? My derm told me she wouldn't let me do a thing to my skin for 6 months :( she even told me to use SPF 45 daily and only use the cetaphil for the next 6 months..

I mean, your derm probably is making what she thinks is the best call based on your skin type and scarring severity/laser type. Hang in there!

I was scrolling through your blog and I saw someone suggested you wash your face and cut back on exfoliating.. I laughed really hard. Like you were already like 5 months into accutane plus I'm sure you had tried washing your face before?!? Like the thought was nice but people with clear skin are ignorant to think that what they use will clear up everyone else's acne. Like If I had a dollar for every time a stranger suggested proactive I'd be rich.

What laser are you doing for the scarring? And how long did you have to wait after ending accutane to start the treatments? I've heard you have to wait 3 weeks and I've also heard 6 months..

Im sorry inhave a list of questions.. When did you start accutane and how long we're you on it? When did your skin start to clear up? Did you have any acne on your back? Do you have much scarring or hyper pigmentation now or did it get better from the accutane? And did you have makeup on in your after pics? I'll be starting in a few weeks and my skin looks exactly like your before pics but with more scarring

I started accutane november of 2011 and I was on it for 7 months.
My skin started to clear up around months 5,6,7, and even more after I stopped.
I only had a few back pimples
Accutane left more hyper pigmentation and scarring than I had before due to the initial break out. I’m in the process of laser surgeries in order to fade them though and they’re going great. I didn’t have any scarring really though.. just hyper pigmentation.
I had no make up on in my after pictures, or any of the pictures I posted throughout my treatment

I'd like to say that you've come very far with your blog. But really, you shouldn't be taking this you beautiful, beautiful girl! Honestly, all you need is some nice face wash and a daily routine. Pointer, if you exfoliate your skin everyday, you're going to break out more. I highly recommend doing it every other day, followed by a face wash. I use Aveeno Clear Complexion foaming cleanser everyday, twice. I think you should try it out. It works really well. You're STUNNING. Don't forget that!

Not really

So I'm about to be prescribed accutane, and I'm going through all the hoops with the iPledge and the blood samples and stuff, AND OH MY GOD I AM SO SCARED OF EVERYTHING. I don't want to tell you any horror stories because you're taking it now, but I know that you deal with depression and anxiety, and so do I, and I was wondering how/if accutane has made it worse? I'm so scared to start on it, I don't want a bunch of side effects later in life to harm me

It really has worsened it, but i have coping skills set in place to deal with these problems. I’ve upped my dosage of depression/anxiety medication, and I’m powering through. If you really want it, you’ll be able to fight through. If you don’t, you won’t be able to. I’m so sorry for my late reply. I wish you the best of luck :)

Hi Jena, just wanted to drop in and say that you're beautiful and I love your blog! I took Accutane about 4~5 years ago, so I know what you're going through! You seem to be doing great on it, my skin actually cleared up the most the month after I stopped taking it! (my acne is back though, ugh. :( hopefully seeing a dermatologist again soon). Good luck sweetie, excited to see your progress! :D And ps, your new puppy is absolutely precious!

Hey love! I just started Accutane yesterday and am super nervous about the journey. My doctor prescribed me 40mg and i'm worried it's too little of a dose. I'm about 5'3 and 108lbs... haha I think I might be over thinking this though. What dose are you on love ? :)
